Biography

Scottish hard rock legends Nazareth have had a handful of hits in the late '70s, including the proto-power ballad "Love Hurts" and Joni Mitchell penned "This Flight Tonight." Formed in 1968, the band made their breakthrough with 1973's Razamanaz (featuring U.K. Top Ten singles "Broken Down Angel" and "Bad Bad Boy").

1975's Hair of the Dog established Nazareth as an internationally popular hard rock band. Featuring their revamped version of the Everly Brothers' "Love Hurts," the album sold over a million copies in the U.S. Until the end of the '70s, the band continued successfully as a quartet, releasing a series of Top 100 albums.

Despite line-up changes including the tragic death of drummer Darrell Sweet in 1999, the core of the band remains to this day with gravel throated front-man Dan McCafferty and bassist Pete Agnew leading Nazareth into their 41st year on the road.
