He’s been a punk in The Nuns, a cowpunk in Rank and File and a hard rocking alt.country boy in The True Believers, but it’s as a solo artist that Alejandro Escovedo has really made his mark. No Depression’s Artist Of The Decade for the 1990s, he can boast admirers of the calibre of Lucinda Williams, John Cale, Ian Hunter, Steve Earle, Ryan Adams and Bruce Springsteen. All are drawn to his thoughtful and intelligent songs, his tough rocking music and and his legendary full-on live shows.

Described by Rolling Stone as “in a genre of his own” and the Washington Post as “a maker of ageless rock’n’roll,” he attracts critical acclaim and fans the way shit attracts flies. His most recent album, Street Songs of Love, a return to stripped back basics, keeps him at the creative high he’s been on since his recovery in 2005 from being critically ill with hepatitis C.

This special acoustic show, accompanied by long-time guitarist David Pulkingham, will be the first visit to Leicester from a man at the peak of his game, a man who’s walked the walk, a man who has, in the words of a lesser performer, "seen a million faces, and rocked them all." Now it's your turn.
